AVIF to PNG Converter

Decode AVIF into lossless, editable PNG.

    What this does

Decodes AVIF images and saves them as PNG — lossless, transparent-capable, and openable by practically every editor and OS since the turn of the millennium. Runs entirely on your device.

Why PNG is the right target for editing

If you need to crop, retouch, or annotate an AVIF, you want a format your editor understands and that won't degrade while you work. PNG re-saves losslessly any number of times, keeps the alpha channel AVIF may carry, and round-trips through Photoshop, GIMP, Figma exports, and office apps without surprises. Convert once here, edit freely afterwards.

    Does the conversion lose anything?

The pixels the browser decodes are written to PNG exactly — no additional compression loss, which is the key difference from AVIF to JPG. Two technical caveats: output is 8-bit sRGB, so 10-bit/HDR AVIFs are tone-mapped to standard range, and animated AVIF sequences only contribute their first frame.

How big will the PNG be?

Significantly bigger — often 10–20× — because AVIF is among the densest image formats ever shipped and PNG is fully lossless. A 400 KB AVIF photograph can land north of 6 MB as PNG. For sharing rather than editing, the JPG variant keeps things light.

Can I convert many files at once?

Yes — up to 20 per batch, 50 MB per file. Each converted file downloads individually, named after its original (photo.avif → photo.png).

    Is my data private?

Yes. The browser's built-in AVIF decoder and canvas PNG encoder do all the work locally. Nothing is uploaded — you can watch the Network tab stay silent while you convert.
